Implementation of a 3 × 3 directionally-unbiased linear optical multiport

Linear optical multiports are widely used in photonic quantum information processing. Naturally, these devices directionally-biased since photons always propagate from the input ports toward output ports. Recently, concept of directionally-unbiased linear was proposed. These allow to along a reverse direction, which can greatly reduce number required elements for complicated networks. Here, we report an experimental demonstration 3 × fiber multiport using tritter and mirrors. Compared previous bulk works only with light sources long coherence length, our does not require length it provides negligible path differences among all possible trajectories. It be useful building block implementing large-scale walks on complex graph
